How long does it take?

Creating a garment that’s all you takes time. Your first custom suit will require 3-4 months. Once we have your measurements on file, subsequent suits only take 3-4 weeks.

Why so long?

The short answer is creating a hand-made suit that embodies who you are requires some back and forth. The long answer is:

There are four subprocesses for a first-time client that require a few weeks each. It goes consultation, measurements, test version, and then custom suit.

Emily visits NYC and San Francisco quarterly for consultations.

What is the Process?

Step 1

Meet with Emily

This is a hands-on experience directly with our Creative Director, Emily Meyer. Before she starts designing, she’ll need to learn all about you, your lifestyle, and your needs (and she’ll take your measurements, of course). All of this will inform what she recommends, from the fabric to silhouette to finishes.

Step 2

Start fittings and tailoring

This step isn’t just about materials and body measurements. It’s about creating a garment that will outlive fads, and make the good days better, and the bad days easier. We start with a test version to perfect your suit’s silhouette and design elements.

Step 3

Delivery and final tweaks

We ship your 100% custom-made suit to you about 3 to 4 months from your initial consultation. Wear it to Sunday brunch. Wear it to work. Wear it to your friend’s gallery show.

Have more questions?

  • Emily sees clients quarterly in New York City and San Francisco, and throughout the year in San Diego. If you live in another city and would like an appointment with Emily, drop us an e-mail and we can provide additional details about order minimums and pricing for a custom-made suit.

  • Yes and no. Our house fabrics are Neapolitan, and for truly unique commissions, Emily sources from select luxury fabric retailers. We design garments that are within our brand aesthetic, and won’t recreate items that mimic garments from another brand, or current fads.

  • Emily strongly suggests that the initial appointment and fittings for first-time clients take place in person; this way, you will be able to see and feel fabrics and Emily will be able to ensure your suit fits your needs and your body. For existing clients, we do offer digital appointments.

  • Most clients have two appointments, both of which typically last no more than an hour. At the first appointment, Emily will take measurements and review fabric and design elements (i.e. linings, buttons). At the second appointment, you’ll try on the test version of your garment to ensure that the proportions and silhouette are correct. If for some reason, there are additional changes that need to be made, a third appointment may be scheduled. Final tweaks and alterations are included in the 3-4 month timeline.

  • We strongly recommend starting the process for your first event garment at least nine months before the event to ensure adequate time to meet with Emily for your initial consultation and any necessary fitting appointments. Garment delivery is dependent entirely on the timing of the appointment for your test version; once we have the fitting garment perfected, the final garment will be shipped directly to you within about three weeks.

  • No. But we are happy to schedule an appointment with you to get started on a suit for another occasion.

  • We cover the cost of any alterations to your suit that are necessary within three months of the time of delivery. We are not responsible for alterations due to body changes, or wear-and-tear, after the three-month window has passed.
